Fundraising Idea of the Week: Painting Competition(see fun page)
"Novi Most" means "New Bridge". We were named soon after the Stari Most (Old Bridge) was destroyed in 1993. This famous Old Bridge was built by the Turks in 1566 and spanned the Neretva River, which runs through the middle of Mostar. When it was destroyed, all hope was lost, and the international community began to wake up to the atrocities being committed at the time.
Through bringing truckloads of humanitarian aid, church planting, taking kids to summer camps, feeding, clothing and temporarily housing refugees, Novi Most, in many ways, was like the temporary wooden bridge which linked the two sides of Mostar during and after the war years.
In 2004, Novi Most set its strategy for the future...and entered a new era! We are working hard to establish a locally led, Bosnia Herzegovina based Christian youth organisation, so that this and future generations of young people throughout Bosnia Herzegovina can bring and be instruments of hope in their nation.
Today Novi Most International build bridges between different sorts of people, between local communities and the church, and between people and God - 'wiping the face of Jesus Clean' after it was bloodied by war.
